How to play
- Words fall toward production. Type a word to run it — the first letter locks on, and the rest has to follow.
- Take whatever is closest to the bottom first. Anything that lands costs you one of five lives.
- A typo breaks your streak but costs no health, so keep going. Long words pay per character — they are worth more and they take longer, which is the whole decision.
How it works
Words fall toward production and you type them to run them. Start typing a word and it locks on; finish it and it is gone. Anything that reaches the bottom takes production down a notch, and five of those end the shift. The speed is not the whole skill — with several words in the air you have to choose which one to spend the next second on, and committing to a long word while a short one is about to land is how most runs end. The vocabulary is what a working programmer types without thinking, so you are recognising the words rather than reading them. You get a real words-per-minute figure at the end, measured the way a typing test measures it. Runs on your device, nothing is sent anywhere, and there is nothing to sign up for.
A game, not a typing certification. The speed shown is measured over the words you actually typed, so it is a fair indication rather than a formal test result.
Frequently asked questions
How is the words-per-minute figure calculated?
The standard way: a word is five characters, and the clock runs between consecutive keystrokes of the same word. Time spent waiting for the next word to appear is not counted, and neither is the time you spend dashing off to save another word — otherwise the game's own pacing would decide your score. Typos are inside the measurement, so they cost speed exactly as they do in real typing.
Can I play this on a phone?
Yes. Tap the field and your keyboard opens. Every word is lowercase letters and digits with no punctuation, partly so there is no shift key to hunt for on a phone, and partly because dashes and underscores sit in different places on AZERTY, QWERTZ and the Baltic layouts.
What happens if I mistype?
You lose your streak and your accuracy takes the hit, but you keep the word and your health. Only a word reaching production costs a life. A typo should be a setback, not a death — otherwise the game only works for people who type for a living.
How do I get a better rank?
Triage, not speed. Take the word closest to the bottom first, even if a longer one is worth more, and do not start a ten-character word when something is about to land. Long words pay per character, so they are worth the risk — just not that risk.
