Every month of Bitcoin since 2013, coloured by return. The best month was November 2013 (+471%); the worst was February 2014 (-39%). 56% of all months were positive.
Method
Each cell is one calendar month’s return, measured from the previous month-end close to that month-end close (CryptoCompare histoday (free, public)). Green is up, red is down, and the deeper the colour the bigger the move. Bitcoin’s monthly swings are extreme by any traditional-asset standard. Figures exclude fees and taxes and are not investment advice; past performance doesn't predict future results.
